Med/Surg Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) – Travel Nursing Contract in Madison, WI
Travel Registered Nurse opportunity in Madison, Wisconsin, for an experienced acute-care Med/Surg Telemetry RN seeking a 13-week night-shift assignment. Join a collaborative neuro-specialty inpatient team and care for adult and geriatric patients in a fast-paced 25-bed medical-surgical/telemetry unit. This assignment offers the opportunity to strengthen your expertise in telemetry nursing, neurosurgical care, stroke care, and complex medical-surgical patient management while working alongside an experienced interdisciplinary team. Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,130–$2,250
- Assignment Dates: November 9, 2026 – February 8, 2027
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks
- Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts
- Shift Hours: 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m.
- Healthcare Setting: 25-bed neuro medical-surgical/telemetry inpatient unit
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatric patients; approximately 4 patients per nurse
- Weekend Coverage: Weekend rotation required; holidays as needed
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Float Requirement: Travel nurses may be required to float as needed
Med/Surg Telemetry RN Job Requirements
- At least 2 years of acute-care inpatient Registered Nurse experience in medical-surgical/telemetry or neuro medical-surgical nursing within the last 3 years
- Current Registered Nurse license in Wisconsin or a valid compact RN license
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Recent experience with Epic electronic health records (EHR)
- Strong telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation skills
- Successful completion of a telemetry examination before clearance to begin the travel nursing assignment
- Ability to meet strict telemetry testing criteria, including recognition of lethal rhythms and third-degree heart blocks
- Ability to provide documentation for required immunizations or approved exemptions, as applicable
Medical-Surgical Telemetry RN Responsibilities
- Provide evidence-based nursing care for medical, surgical, neurological, and telemetry patients
- Care for patients recovering from spine surgery, craniotomy, brain tumor procedures, ophthalmology procedures, and other complex interventions
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, identify clinical changes, and promptly escalate concerns
- Support patients with conditions including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, ALS, Guillain-Barré syndrome, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and orthopedic trauma
- Manage central and peripheral lines, PICC lines, chest tubes, feeding tubes, tracheostomies, wound care, oxygen therapy, PCA therapy, and blood product administration
- Administer medications and manage insulin, heparin, IV therapies, and other prescribed treatments
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments, maintain accurate Epic documentation, and develop individualized patient care plans
- Collaborate with nursing assistants, therapists, advanced practice providers, physicians, respiratory services, pharmacy, rehabilitation, social services, and rapid response teams
- Educate patients and families while delivering compassionate, patient- and family-centered care
- Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and activate rapid response or code resources when indicated
