Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Stepdown/Telemetry unit position requiring VA or compact RN license and Epic experience.

Details

• Stepdown unit setting within a teaching hospital environment
• Cares for cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC, and renal patient populations
• Patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
• 36 or 48 hour options available
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• Labor Day weekend off cannot be approved
• Must adhere to facility float policy and float within scope of practice
• Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

• Active VA or compact RN license (pending license accepted, must be in hand by the Wednesday before start date)
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• BSN preferred
• Teaching hospital experience preferred
• Trauma Level I or II experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/arterial line management, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, and tracheostomy management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and rapid response protocols
• Experience with wound care, insulin protocols, and isolation precautions

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care for stepdown/telemetry patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
• Manage vasoactive and cardiac drips without titration, PCA, and epidural analgesia
• Perform continuous bladder irrigation and pre/post hemodialysis management for renal patients
• Support ortho trauma and total joint replacement patients as needed
• Care for neurological/psychiatric patients including spinal cord injury and traumatic brain injury cases
• Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at submission
• Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to determine start date
• Previous UVA Health permanent staff or traveler employment requires 1-year separation and leadership approval
• External travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days and are not eligible to return after reaching this limit
• No radius rule applies to this position
• First-time travelers may be considered
