Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU/Step Down position requiring at least 1 year of unit specialty experience and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

  • Work in the Step Down/PCU unit of a hospital environment
  • Night shift schedule, 3x12 or 4x12 hours from 19:00-07:00
  • Floating required to Intermediate and MedSurg units, with travelers floating first as needed
  • No specific patient ratio information provided
  • Cerner/Oracle Health charting system experience preferred, not required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or VA) required in hand
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in the unit specialty required, with 2-3 years overall experience preferred
  • Prior travel nursing experience generally required unless candidate has significant overall experience
  • BSN not required
  • Teaching hospital and Trauma Level II experience preferred
  • Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac and vasoactive drip management (no titration), and non-invasive airway management/oxygen administration
  • Candidates with pending certifications will be considered

Additional Information

  • Must reside within a 60-mile radius of the facility
  • Local candidates are not accepted
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Former Centra Health employees must be separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
  • RTO must be approved prior to assignment start, with a preference for no RTO in the first weeks of the assignment
  • Holiday coverage expected in rotation with staff
  • Biweekly orientation held on Mondays
  • 8-10 hours of training modules required during orientation and annually
  • Scrubs may be any color with a professional appearance; child-friendly print tops, scrub jackets, and lab coats are allowed
  • Nicotine-free campus
