Job Summary:
The healthcare provider is seeking a qualified professional for a step down unit position located in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This role involves providing advanced nursing care in a specialized unit dedicated to patients transitioning from intensive care. The position is suited for experienced nurses with an interest in cardiac and critically ill patient management.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to practice nursing in the state of Tennessee, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification. A minimum of 1 year of applicable experience in a step down or cardiology unit is preferred; new graduates with relevant clinical experience may also be considered.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of cardiac medications such as Heparin, Cardizem, Dobutamine, Dopamine, and Amiodarone drips; experience with cardiac procedures including EKG interpretation, chest tube management, and wound vac application.
  • Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours each, starting on 08/24/2026.
  • Additional Information:
    • The unit features a staffing model including a unit clerk, Patient Care Technicians (PCTs), Nursing Supervisors, and Hospitalists.
    • Staff perform bedside and hourly patient rounding, with documentation of telemetry application and rhythm strips management.
    • The unit emphasizes patient safety with strict adherence to bed alarm and call light protocols.
    • Dress code for RN: Navy scrubs and optional jacket; for CNA/PCT: light blue scrub set with optional jacket.
    • Recognition programs include Daisy and Bee awards, with a strong culture of shared governance.
