Job Summary: The healthcare professional specializing in Step Down Unit nursing at the nights shift is responsible for providing high-acuity patient care in a critical care step-down setting. This role involves managing clients with complex medical conditions, titrating vasopressors, sedation medication, and other advanced procedures, ensuring safety and compliance with hospital protocols.
Job Details:
Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Valid license in applicable state(s), ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification. A minimum of 2 years of hospital experience in a step-down or high-acuity medical-surgical setting required; candidates should have recent bedside experience within the last 6 months.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with arterial line management, cardiac telemetry, ventilated patients, chest tubes, and managing vasoactive drips. Experience with EPIC charting system preferred.
Float: Float to floors with lower acuity may be required within scope of practice.
Additional Information: Must have proficiency with titration of vasopressors (Levophed, Nicardipine), sedation medications, art lines, trach vents, chest tubes, and external pacemakers. Prior ICU or step-down experience is highly preferred, with emphasis on managing complex patients utilizing advanced procedures and equipment such as Bipap, OptiFlow, and arterial lines. Must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months. Candidates should be able to handle high-acuity clinical procedures as described.
