Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Step Down Unit (Specialty) registered nurse for a temporary assignment in a healthcare facility. This role involves delivering specialized care to adult and geriatric patients with conditions such as cardiac issues, nephrology, strokes, and diabetes, among others. The position requires working night shifts with a focus on critical thinking, effective communication, and teamwork to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details

• Certifications: ACLS (American Heart Association), BLS (American Heart Association), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale); Licensure to Submit required; Minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant patient care setting.
• Position: Step Down Unit RN in an acute care environment.
• Schedule: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Responsibilities include managing patients with various diagnoses, titrating drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications, and working within a fast-paced, high-acuity setting.
• Unit patient ratios are typically 1:4-5, with RN-to-patient ratios of 1:10 or 2:20, and there are nurse aides/patient care techs on duty.
• Additional notes: First week is onboarding plus 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation; the unit is clinical and operationally demanding requiring a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, and critical thinking. Candidates must be able to work within a 50-mile radius of the facility and will undergo a pass/fail skills exam during orientation.
• Floating to other medical floors, ICU, or rehab is required.
• Must have a valid drivers license at the time of submission; RTO requests are limited to seven days or fewer per 13-week contract with no additional RTO approved after submission.
• The assignment starts on 10/12/2026 and ends on 01/11/2027, with no mention of onsite supervision or management.
