Overview

This Cardiac Stepdown RN job is ideal for an experienced travel nurse who enjoys caring for patients with chest pain, arrhythmias, and other acute cardiac conditions. You’ll provide high-quality bedside care in an adult inpatient stepdown / telemetry unit with strong clinical support and a patient-focused culture.

• Weekend Coverage: 6 weekend shifts required during each 6-week schedule period
• Floating: May be required to float to other qualified nursing units as needed

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience in a cardiac telemetry or stepdown setting
• Strong cardiac telemetry experience required
• Epic EMR experience required; at least 1 year of Epic experience preferred
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Experience caring for cardiac patients with arrhythmias, chest pain, and post-procedure monitoring preferred
• Ability to work night shifts and participate in weekend coverage
• Comfortable floating to similar units when needed
• Strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, compassionate care to adult cardiac stepdown patients
• Monitor telemetry, interpret dysrhythmias, and respond quickly to changes in patient condition
• Administer and titrate cardiac medications and drips per protocol
• Care for patients following cardiac procedures such as heart catheterization, cardioversion, ablation, pacemaker/ICD placement, and CABG preparation
• Perform assessments, document care accurately in Epic EMR, and maintain clear communication with the healthcare team
• Support patients with IV management, oxygen delivery, and post-procedure monitoring
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary departments to promote positive patient outcomes
• Maintain professionalism, adaptability, and a patient-first approach in a busy clinical setting
