Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown Cardiac position requiring a strong PCU background, Epic proficiency, and active NH or Compact RN license.

Details

  • Position is contracted to the ED unit, specifically to care for inpatient/CICU-level holds in the ED
  • Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, pneumonia, and post-cath with stent (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
  • Overflow patients may include medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic cases
  • Manages and titrates drips including Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
  • Equipment used includes BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris Pumps, and Philips Monitoring System
  • Charting system: Epic (experience required)
  • Shift: Nights, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
  • Patient ratio: 1:4
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required

Requirements

  • Active NH or Compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with a strong PCU background within the last year
  • Current certifications required: ACLS and BLS (AHA or Red Cross only)
  • EKG test required upon arrival
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Proficiency in BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and non-invasive airway management
  • Ability to titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips required
  • Skills in IV therapy, blood product administration, cardiac monitoring, and dysrhythmia management required
  • ED experience preferred but not required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • 2 professional supervisory references from within the past 2 years required for consideration
  • Drug screen required within 14 days of start date

Additional Information

  • First-time travelers are accepted only with Epic experience and a minimum of 2 years of experience
  • Former staff of this facility are not eligible for travel roles
  • Floating to similar units is expected; travelers will not be assigned patients outside their clinical scope
  • Team nursing/Helping Hands approach utilized on unit
  • Patient sitting may be part of floating responsibilities
  • Only AHA or Red Cross certifications are accepted
  • CPI certification preferred
  • No RTO approved for Thanksgiving
  • Candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at the local pay rate
  • Any license or background hits must receive facility approval prior to an offer being extended
