Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Stepdown/PCU unit requiring at least 1 year of relevant experience and an active IN or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work in a 26-bed Stepdown Intermediate Care unit within a hospital setting
  • Care for a diverse patient population including cardiac, neuro/stroke, dialysis, post-operative, respiratory, and general med/surg overflow cases
  • Manage patients requiring telemetry monitoring, IV drips (cardiac, vasoactive, insulin), central lines, PICC lines, and oxygen therapy including CPAP/BiPAP
  • Night shift schedule from 18:00-06:30
  • 13-week contract assignment
  • May float to other med/surg units as needed

Requirements

  • Active RN license (IN or Compact) currently in hand
  • Current BLS certification through AHA
  • Current ACLS certification through AHA
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
  • Nursys license verification required within 30 days prior to start

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care for medically complex patients requiring frequent monitoring and specialized interventions
  • Perform comprehensive assessments including respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, and hemodynamic status
  • Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and lab results, notifying providers of condition changes
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including physicians, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, and case management
  • Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions
  • Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR
  • Recognize signs of patient deterioration and escalate care or activate rapid response as needed
  • Adhere to infection prevention, fall precautions, and patient safety protocols
  • Radius rules apply and may affect pay rate eligibility for local candidates
  • Only one submission permitted per candidate across the health system at a time
