Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring 2+ years of current specialty experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Details

• 34-bed Stepdown/PCU unit
• 1:5 patient ratios that may fluctuate with census and staffing needs
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Day shift schedule rotating between 3x12 hour and 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM), totaling 84 hours per two-week pay period
• Float required within scope of practice
• Every other weekend required
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Active KY or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA)
• AVADE Level I & II certification preferred
• 2+ years of current Stepdown/PCU experience required
• 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience preferred
• Meditech EMR experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and tracheostomy care
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
• 2 professional references required: 1 from a Charge nurse or higher and 1 from a supervisor, both completed within the last year
• Valid driver's license matching permanent address required
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Care for patients requiring cardiac telemetry, renal, neurological, and post-surgical monitoring in a stepdown/PCU setting
• Manage patients with conditions including CVA, post-TPA care, traumatic brain injury, and substance withdrawal
• Provide care for cardiovascular patients including post-MI and pre/post cardiac catheterization with sheath removal
• Support oncology patients including chemotherapy monitoring
• Assist with orthopedic trauma and total joint replacement patients
• Candidates must reside at least 75 miles from the facility to be considered; local candidates are not accepted
• Up to 7 days of RTO will be considered and must be submitted upfront with no changes accepted
• Must work either a major or minor holiday for every holiday period
• Travelers who have worked one year must take a minimum 6-month break before returning to this system
• Traveler pairs are accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
