General Information

• Number of Beds: 40
• Staffing:
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Bedside Nurses, 4 Patient Care Technicians, 1 Unit Secretary
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Bedside Nurses, 3 Patient Care Technicians
• Patient Ratios: 1:4; stretch staffing at 1:5 ratio
• Patient Population: Patients with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Myocardial Infarction (MI), Chest Pain (CP), Arrhythmias, Pulmonary Hypertension, Valvular Disease, Endocarditis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA), post Cardiac Catheterization/Stent, post Pacemaker/Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD)/Ablation.
• Equipment Used: Zoll Monitor, Baxter Pump, Lift Equipment, Bladder Scanner
• Electronic Medical Record System: Cerner

Qualifications

Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a relevant clinical setting.

• Required Skills:
  • Stepdown or Progressive Care experience
  • Telemetry experience
  • Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications (e.g., Nitroglycerine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin drip, Heparin, Bumex/Lasix)
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin)
  • Relief Charge experience
• Typical Procedures:
  • Bedside Cardioversion

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)

Floating Areas

Responsibilities may include floating to all MedSurg units, Stepdown units, COVID units, and ER holding areas as needed.

Dress Code

Scrub Color: All white or all navy blue, or a white top with navy blue pants.

Weekend Commitment

Every other weekend is required.
