Description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a night shift stepdown position requiring 2 years of experience and an active SC or compact RN license.

Details

• Stepdown/PCU unit within a hospital setting
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a with holiday rotation
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required within scope to sister units/facilities, with agency staff floated first
• Epic EMR used, experience preferred
• Block scheduling may be requested but is not guaranteed

Requirements

• Active SC or compact RN license required in hand prior to start
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (AHA only)
• NIHSS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience required
• Prior ICU or stepdown experience preferred
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/tele, neuro stepdown, or PCU/DOU/IMC settings preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and phlebotomy required
• Experience with ventilator care, BiPAP/CPAP, and airway management preferred
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response required
• Driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care for cardiac, neuro, respiratory, and post-surgical patient populations
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking available onsite
• During hurricane season (June-November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• First-time travelers may be considered depending on position needs
• Previous perm or PRN staff must be separated from the health system for 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility to qualify; local candidates are not accepted
• All requested time off must be submitted with the application and is subject to facility approval
