Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/Telemetry position requiring 2+ years of specialty experience and a KY or compact RN license.

Details

• Work in the Step Down unit of a hospital environment
• Cares for cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC, and stepdown patients including CVA, post-TPA, neuro, and cardiac drip management
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Meditech charting system preferred
• Day shift rotating schedule: one week of 3x12-hour shifts, next week of 4x12-hour shifts (84 hours per two-week pay period)
• Floating required within scope of practice
• Required to work every other weekend
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated

Requirements

• Active RN license (KY or Compact) in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AVADE Level I & II preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience required, including 3-6 months of Level IV Trauma or above experience
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, and tracheostomy care
• Experience managing cardiac drips, dysrhythmia interpretation, and heparin protocols
• Wound care/wound vac and IV insulin protocol experience required
• 2 professional references required: one Charge or higher and one supervisor, both completed within the last year
• Driver's license copy required, with address matching permanent address
• Copy of certifications required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide advanced monitoring and care for stepdown/telemetry patients including cardiac, neuro, GI, and renal cases
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted; medical and religious exemptions considered case-by-case
• Up to 7 days of RTO considered if presented upfront with no changes accepted
• Must work either a major or minor holiday each holiday period
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
• Travel pairs accepted on a limited basis and will not be scheduled on the same shift or unit
• Travelers who have worked one year in this system must take a minimum 6-month break before returning
• Orientation is conducted on a bi-weekly basis
