Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years required License: Pending License accepted Certifications: BLS, CBSPD, IAHCSMM/HSPA required Must-Have: Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Must be able to stand for up to 5 hours. Description: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, disinfection, and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment. Knowledge of chemical agents for decontamination and disinfectants is required. Experience with washers, sterilizers, and sterilization wrapping procedures is necessary. Candidates should be skilled in the assembly of instrument sets and trays for various specialties, including orthopedics, neurology, and general surgery. The position involves working in a fast-paced environment with a high acuity patient population. Regular floating between departments may be required based on facility needs.
