Description:
Staff will be dedicated to instrument picking for surgical and procedural cases.
Candidates must have experience with case carts.
Upon arrival, notify the supervisor.
Change into surgical scrubs upon entering the facility.
Bathrooms are located down the hall through the double doors, then turn left through another set of double doors.
The bathrooms will be on the right.
Scrub jackets from outside are not permitted.
Scrubs must be returned to the linen hamper next to the blue scrub cart after the shift.
Hairnets and shoe covers are required.
No earbuds are allowed while working.
Badge access to necessary locations is required.
If badge access is unavailable, a temporary badge can be obtained in the emergency department.
The supervisor will provide instruction on how to pick instruments if prior training has not been received.
If all cases are picked:
Check the carts for missing instruments and attempt to locate them.
Ensure that the carts are organized according to the surgery schedule.
Retrieve items from the put away shelves and scan them into their designated locations.
Check the carts for missing materials as indicated on the case cart pick list.
Utilize the bin location to find materials and stock the carts as needed.
If completed, consult with someone in materials on how to help re-stock returned supplies.
Scan all trays and instruments to check them into the cart.
Tracking instruments is essential for health and safety reasons.
It is critical to maintain accurate records of their location at all times.
