Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (10:00 AM - 6:00 PM) Experience: 2 years preferred License: Must obtain prior to start Certifications: BLS, CBSPD preferred Must-Have: - Previous charge experience preferred - Travel experience required - Community hospital experience required Description: The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for ensuring that all surgical instruments and equipment are properly processed and sterile. Two years of experience is preferred for this role. Travel experience is necessary for consideration. Candidates must possess certifications in BLS and ideally CBSPD. The role involves working with various types of surgical instruments including those used in orthopedics, neurosurgery, and general surgery. Experience with biological indicators and high-level disinfection processes is essential. The technician will be required to operate sterilization and decontamination equipment. Skills in equipment documentation and the proper selection of wrapping materials will be needed. Aseptic techniques and familiarization with various scopes and surgical procedures are required. Must be able to float to other like units as needed based on facility demands. Call duty is a required expectation for this role. Additional responsibilities may include assembling surgical trays and performing steam sterilization testing. The daily census and workload will involve multiple surgeries and patient needs, requiring strong multitasking and communication skills.
