Job Title: Sterile Processing Supervisor Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech (SPT) Team Lead Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (19:00 - 07:30) Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of sterile processing experience. Prior leadership experience required. License: Not required Certifications: CBSPD and/or CRCST HSPA Must-Have: Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems preferred. Description: The Sterile Processing Supervisor provides operational and technical leadership for the Sterile Processing Department. This role directly supervises Lead Technicians, Sterile Processing Technicians I, II, III, and Non-Certified Technicians. Responsibilities include daily workflow coordination, staff competency, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and customer service. Coordinate daily operations to meet surgical and procedural case demands. Monitor tray turnaround times, instrument availability, and case cart readiness. Troubleshoot equipment, instrument, and workflow issues in real time. Ensure proper segregation of clean and dirty workflows and adherence to infection prevention practices. Ensure compliance with relevant guidelines and regulatory standards. Audit tray assembly accuracy, count sheets, peel packs, and labeling requirements. Address service concerns and implement service recovery when needed. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings related to instrumentation, workflow, and quality initiatives. Monitor adherence to infection control, safety, and universal precautions across the department. Organize, store, and distribute instruments, trays, and equipment to ensure availability. Prepare instrument trays and equipment for sterilization processes. Conduct decontamination and sterilization of instruments, medical supplies, and equipment. Lead quality improvement initiatives to reduce defects and delays. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment is required. Basic computer proficiency for documentation and recordkeeping is necessary. Advanced certification in Sterile Processing preferred. Experience with specialty cases such as Neuro, GU, robotics, ENT, ortho, transplant, and GYN is preferred.
