Job Title: Sterile Processing Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 10 hours Experience: A minimum of 5 years previous sterile processing experience is required. License: Certification required at hire and maintained. Certifications: CRCST or CSPDT. Must-Have: Must be certified, have a rating of 3 or above in Robotics, and have worked in a Level II Trauma or similar facility. Description: The Sterile Processing Tech cleans, prepares, sterilizes, and stores instruments from across the health system. The tech also prepares case carts for the operating room. The SPD unit serves multiple surgical operating rooms, labor and delivery operating rooms, a cath lab, and various clinics. We have nearly all specialties, including robotics. This position will primarily involve working in decontamination and will rarely require assembling trays. Responsibilities include the proper cleaning techniques, use of decontamination chemicals, and adherence to sterilization protocols. The tech also documents equipment use and maintains organization within the sterile processing area. Possessing a thorough understanding of surgical instruments and their proper handling is essential. Candidates should demonstrate effective communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
