Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: Mon-Friday 9 AM - 5:30 PM Experience: 1+ years of experience preferred License: Not Applicable Certifications: CRCST through HSPA or CBSPD required Must-Have: - Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team - Experience and understanding in the use of computers, as well as the ability to learn software relevant to Sterile Processing - Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and/or storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and/or delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to fill the needs of various departments. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows universal precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes and disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments. Packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments, and transports sterilized items. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking, following labeling processes, and reporting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with staff including order status and back orders. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates. Promotes mission, vision, and values of the organization and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments based on business needs. May be required to be placed on call during a regularly scheduled shift.
