Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (Mon-Fri, 9 am - 5:30 pm) Experience: 1+ years of experience preferred License: N/A Certifications: CRCST through HSPA or CBSPD required Must-Have: - Sterile Processing - Instrument Sterilization - Medical Equipment Assembly - Universal Precautions - Inventory Management Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and/or storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Also assembles, distributes, and/or delivers disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to fill the needs of the Operating Room, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics. Operates and monitors sterilization equipment. Disassembles carts and follows Universal Precautions for decontamination. Sterilizes and disinfects durable medical equipment and instruments, packages clean supplies and instruments, maintains records for all instruments, and transports sterilized items to the floor. Assembles sterilized instruments and rechecks all instruments for cleanliness and/or impairment. Properly checks power equipment. Takes measures to allow for easy instrument tracking, including following labeling processes, using an engraver, and reporting and documenting all missing instruments and implants replaced in trays. Communicates the equipment and instrument inventory status with staff, including order status, back orders, and/or changes. Responds to emergency situations by ensuring all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied properly and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner. Utilizes applications and technology to accurately facilitate record keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department. Promotes mission, vision, and values, and abides by service behavior standards. Performs other duties as assigned. May be required to float to other departments based on business need. May be required to be placed on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
