Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Tech Specialty: Sterile Processing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Variable Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: 1+ years of experience preferred License: N/A Certifications: Required certification in sterile processing (CRCST through HSPA or CBSPD) Must-Have: - Experience in sterile processing, instrument assembly, cleaning, and sterilization - Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment - Proficiency in using computers and relevant software Description: The position is responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment. Additionally, the role involves assembling, distributing, and delivering disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies to meet the needs of various departments. The technician operates and monitors sterilization equipment and disassembles carts while following universal precautions for decontamination. The role also includes sterilizing and disinfecting durable medical equipment and instruments, packaging clean supplies and instruments, and maintaining records for all items. The technician transports sterilized items and assembles sterilized instruments, ensuring all are clean and in good condition. Proper checks on power equipment are carried out. Measures should be taken to allow for easy instrument tracking, including following labeling processes and documenting any missing instruments. Communication regarding equipment and instrument inventory status with the central processing staff and charge nurse is essential. In emergency situations, the technician ensures that all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied and delivered to the operating room promptly. Utilizing technology for accurate record-keeping in accordance with regulations is required. The technician provides on-the-job training to newly hired associates. Promotion of the organization's mission, vision, and values, along with adherence to service behavior standards, is expected. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Flexibility in working overtime, floating to other departments, and being placed on-call during scheduled shifts may be required.
