Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Profession: Sterile Processing Tech Specialty: SPD: Sterile Processing Tech Duration: 18 months Shift: 5x8.0 Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1-3 years of experience required License: Certified Sterile Processing Technician (CBSPD, CRCST/HSPA) required Certifications: AHA BLS required Must-Have: - Experience running dental and surgical equipment. - Experience with Steris machines is a must. - Decontamination experience: Manual, Mechanical, HLD. - Assembly experience with medical devices, equipment, and instruments. - General instrumentation experience, including laparoscopic instruments and flexible endoscopes. - Sterilization experience: Steam and Low Temperature Sterilization. Description: The role involves preparing and delivering clean and sterilized instruments and equipment for medical examinations and surgeries. You will be responsible for sterilizing, wrapping, organizing, and preparing medical equipment and surgical instruments for clinical procedures. This position requires laying out surgical gloves and gowns before each procedure. You will collect and manually clean used and contaminated medical equipment, supplies, and instruments for sorting and decontamination. Preparing and packing decontaminated medical tools and supplies for sterilization is a key duty. You will operate and monitor sterilization equipment, ensuring the cleanliness of all supplies. It is important to check and report any problems or issues with sterilization equipment to supervisors. Maintaining records of sterilization procedures, equipment maintenance, and inventories of sterilized items and supplies is required. You will reorder medical and surgical supplies and control inventory, checking expiration dates of products. The role includes removing medical waste and disposing of it appropriately. Experience with pediatric patients is highly desired. Experience with specific equipment brands is highly desired. Certifications such as CER (HSPA) and CIS (HSPA) or CSIS (CBSPD) are highly desired.
