- Position: Sterile Processing Technician (SPT)
- Location: Lakewood
- Contract Length: 13 Weeks
- Shift: Evening Shift
- Schedule: 5×8
- Experience Required: 2 Years
- Pay Rate:$31 to $35 per hour
Responsibilities
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, assemble, sterilize, and distribute surgical instruments and reusable medical equipment
- Operate sterilization equipment including steam sterilizers, washer-disinfectors, ultrasonic cleaners, and low-temperature sterilization systems
- Inspect surgical instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before assembly
- Assemble instrument trays according to surgical preference cards and department standards
- Prepare case carts and ensure timely delivery of sterile supplies to operating rooms and procedural departments
- Monitor sterilization cycles, biological indicators, and chemical indicators to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Maintain accurate sterilization records and documentation
- Identify instruments requiring repair or replacement and report issues appropriately
- Assist with inventory management, stocking, and organization of sterile supplies
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant Sterile Processing Department
- Collaborate closely with Operating Room staff, nurses, and other clinical departments to ensure instrument availability for scheduled and emergency procedures
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum 2 years of recent Sterile Processing Technician experience in an acute care hospital
- Current CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) certification required by facility policy
- Current BLS Certification
- Strong knowledge of AAMI, OSHA, CDC, and infection prevention guidelines
- Experience with surgical instrumentation, sterilization equipment, and instrument tracking systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
