Job Title: Central Supply Technician Profession: Sterile Processing Technician Specialty: - Duration: 12 months Shift: 3:00 PM - 11:30 PM, M-F, Weekends required Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in instrument processing License: National Certification: CRCST or CBSPDT Certifications: N/A Must-Have: High school diploma or equivalent Description: The Central Supply Technician is responsible for the cleaning, processing, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation and patient care equipment. This position also functions as a Case Cart Attendant for the Operating Room. Receives, sorts, processes, assembles, and sterilizes both patient care equipment and surgical instruments according to established departmental policies. Understands all detergents and disinfectants used to process items. Implements both Universal Precautions and proper use of personal protective equipment. Operates and loads sterilizers (Steam, ETO, Sterrad, and Steris) and assures biological tests and Bowie Dick tests are correctly performed and recorded. Assures sterilization records are completed accurately by recording all items processed and ensuring the correct label is used. Reads and interprets chemical integrators per load and observes all computerized printouts for accuracy. Adheres to the correct use of computerized instrument count sheets. Prepares case carts for delivery by using preference information to assemble required instruments and special equipment. Notifies the nursing team of missing items and confers with a coordinator about shortages of supplies and equipment. Completes a daily checklist. Lifts a minimum of 50 lbs. Pushes and pulls a minimum of 60 lbs. Stands the length of the shift. Adheres to the standards identified in the organization's competencies. Skills Required: Central Processing Course or 1 year experience in instrument processing. Ability to work every other weekend. Ability to work three out of six holidays. Ability to work a rotating schedule based on needs. Preferred Skills: N/A
