Key Responsibilities

• Apply and document the full nursing process — assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation — for surgical patients across specialties including Orthopedic, General, Podiatry, GYN/OB (including C-Sections), Pain Management, Urology, and Endoscopy.
• Consult with physicians and clinical staff on nursing problems and interpretation of policies to ensure patient needs are met safely and effectively.
• Practice the five rights of medication administration and maintain clinical competency to provide direct, safe patient care in the operating room environment.
• Act as a patient advocate, incorporating family in care planning, respecting confidentiality, and honoring patients' cultural and religious beliefs.
• Participate in hospital and departmental quality improvement activities as required.
• Demonstrate effective communication and teamwork skills when interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary staff of varying ages and cultural backgrounds.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of New Mexico required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required — American Heart Association (AHA) only.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required — AHA only.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required — AHA only.
• Verbal CPI certification required at time of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in an Operating Room or surgical nursing specialty.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Ability to speak additional languages is a plus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with basic computer proficiency.
