Registered Nurse - Medical / Surgical

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our high acuity Medical/Surgical unit specializing in surgical trauma. This position requires a commitment to providing exceptional care to a diverse patient population, including individuals with complex surgical needs, gunshot wounds, and spinal cord injuries.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients on a high acuity floor.
• Monitor and manage the health status of patients, ensuring timely interventions.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams, including emergency department nurses and admitting unit staff during nurse handoffs.
• Maintain professional nursing standards while adhering to hospital policies and procedures.
• Utilize EPIC for electronic medical record documentation.

Patient Population

This role involves caring for patients with various conditions, including:

• Surgical patients
• Gunshot victims
• Individuals with quadriplegia and paraplegia

Team Support

The unit is supported by Nursing Support Technicians and phlebotomists, with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 5:1. A unit secretary is available during the night shift to assist with administrative tasks.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical specialty.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
• Familiarity with EPIC electronic medical records system is essential.
• Willingness to work flexible shifts and adapt to the dynamic needs of the unit.
• No requests for time off (RTO) will be accepted.

This position is based in a high acuity medical/surgical unit in the region of city, state.
