Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a Level 1 Trauma surgical acute unit requiring 2+ years tele experience and AZ or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Surgical Acute unit (Trauma, Ortho, Surgical) with 30 beds
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5
• Common diagnoses include post-op transplants day 1, whipples, spine, ortho joints, and trauma
• Charge RN available and does not take patients
• Nurse aide support on days and nights
• Uses Cerner EMR
• Philips telemetry monitoring equipment
• Vent support includes Bipap and CPAP
• SWAT RN available for IV team needs
• RT and Pharmacy available 24/7
• 12-hour night shifts
• Weekend requirement of 3 shifts per 4-week period
• Holiday coverage worked into permanent staff rotation
• Floating required, with priority to Med/Surg Tele units and possibly Westgate or AZ General Laveen campuses
• 2 shifts of floor-specific orientation provided

Requirements

• Active AZ or Compact RN license required
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of Telemetry experience required
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Must pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance (2 attempts allowed)
• Must pass a Day 1 SIMs Lab competency exam for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
• Must maintain natural hair color and no facial piercings
• Men must be clean shaven for respirator fit test
• Driver's license required for consideration
• Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, including employment dates and rehire eligibility

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care on a busy surgical acute unit with a high volume of transplant and Whipple procedures
• Navy scrub color required
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, as verified by driver's license
• Candidates who failed the dysrhythmia or sterile technique exam on a second attempt are ineligible for 6 months
• Previous direct employment (full-time, part-time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility within the past year is not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable
• Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts over a 13-week assignment
• Auto-offer available for candidates with 7 days of PTO or less; holiday PTO requires unit manager approval
