Travel Surgical First Assistant (SFA) - $2,406 per week in Springfield, IL

Job Title: OR Tech First Assistant Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: Cardiac Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 4x10-Hour Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 3-4 years License: Active license required in the state of practice Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Experience in acute inpatient OR - Experience in cardiovascular procedures - Experience with cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgery cases - Endoscopic procedure experience Description: Candidates must be located in Illinois three business days prior to compliance requirements. Position requires an understanding of aseptic technique and isolation precautions. The daily caseload consists of approximately eight cases. Weekend call rotation is required, starting from the end of the shift on Friday until Monday morning. Call is required one to two times per week, with a weekend commitment every three to four weekends. Experience with coronary artery bypass grafts, mitral valve replacements, and other cardiovascular procedures is essential. Candidates should have experience with endoscopic procedures such as bronchoscopy and EGD. Further experience with trauma procedures, including amputations and gunshot wounds, is also necessary. Knowledge of equipment handling, such as case carts, drills, and electrosurgical units, is required. Candidates must float as needed within the scope to meet facility needs. The facility is a Magnet-designated acute care hospital with a total of 562 staffed beds. Expected competencies include the ability to perform suturing across all wound layers and manage laser safety. Delivering care to adults and geriatric patients is part of the job responsibilities.
