Job Summary The ICU Surgical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Surgical specialty role is based in an acute care facility. This position involves caring for critically ill patients, including those with liver and kidney transplants, vascular surgeries, ENT for cancer, abdominal surgeries, and complex infections, among others. The role emphasizes early recognition of patient condition changes and effective communication with the medical team.
Job Details
Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Active ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a busy hospital ICU; current licensure (willing to wait); experience in early recognition of patient changes, critical thinking, hemodynamic monitoring, and ventilator management
Preferred Qualifications: Previous travel experience and work in high-acuity, fast-paced hospital settings
Responsibilities: Providing care for surgical ICU patients, managing ventilators, drains, and surgical sites, and participating in patient monitoring and escalation procedures
Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, with flexible scheduling based on unit needs; weekend coverage required 4-6 days in 6 weeks; potential holiday shifts; may require floating to other ICU units within the hospital based on staffing needs
