Travel RN Job Details
- Weekly Estimated Pay: $1,890–$1,990
- Location: Newburgh, Indiana, near Evansville
- Unit: 32-bed Surgical Oncology Medical-Surgical unit
- Start Date: November 2, 2026
- Contract Length: 13 weeks, through January 31, 2027
- Schedule: 36 hours per week; 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
- Patient Ratios: Approximately 1:4–5 on days and 1:5–7 on nights
- Weekend Rotation: Three weekends in each six-week schedule
- Holiday Rotation: Every other holiday
- Float Expectations: May float to nearby affiliated campuses based on unit needs; cross-campus float generally includes advance notice
- Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs without competing health system or agency logos
- Local Candidate Policy: Candidates residing within a 40-mile radius are not eligible
Medical-Surgical Travel Nurse Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical nursing experience
- At least 1 previous travel nursing assignment
- Level II trauma experience
- Current, active compact Registered Nurse license
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification
- Current NIHSS certification
- Recent Epic charting experience; completion of an Epic checkoff class may be required
- Associate degree or qualifying nursing certificate
- Strong patient assessment, prioritization, communication, and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to adapt to changing assignments, float when needed, and work effectively in a teaching-hospital environment
Travel Medical-Surgical RN Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to complex Medical-Surgical and oncology patients, including GI, GU, and general surgical populations
- Care for patients recovering from major procedures, including post-Whipple patients during the early postoperative period
- Perform focused and comprehensive assessments, identify changes in condition, and escalate concerns appropriately
- Manage PIVs, chest tubes and indwelling drains, continuous bladder irrigation, PEG tubes, NG tubes, and ostomies
- Safely manage stable medication infusions such as heparin, furosemide, and pantoprazole, as well as epidural therapy within scope and policy
- Implement neutropenic precautions and other evidence-based safety measures for immunocompromised patients
- Document patient care accurately in Epic and collaborate with providers, ancillary services, patients, and families
- Float to nearby units or affiliated campuses as needed while maintaining safe, high-quality patient care
- Support a positive learning environment by precepting students or new team members when assigned
