Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit position requiring active IL RN licensure and Epic charting experience.

Details

• Surgical unit within a hospital setting
• Night shift schedule, 7p-730a
• 36 hours per week across 3 shifts of 12 hours each
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday coverage on a rotating basis
• No floating required

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing required (temporary license accepted)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum three years of relevant nursing experience
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Level 1 Trauma center experience required
• Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, and email
• Critical thinking and independent judgment skills for patient care decisions

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Develop and modify individualized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team
• Document patient progress, chart updates, and event reports accurately and promptly
• Perform bedside lab testing and quality control in accordance with hospital protocols
• Coordinate interdisciplinary care and advocate for patients with physicians as needed
• Demonstrate technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Promote patient and staff safety including proper use of lift equipment
• Provide goal-focused shift reports and effective handoff communication
• Mentor and share clinical knowledge with team members
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility; local candidates not accepted
• RTO limited to no more than 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Contingent workers limited to a maximum of 1 year on assignment before requiring a 6-month break before returning
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
