Surgical Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN)

7 South -- Post-Surgical: Abdominal/Colorectal

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Surgical Stepdown Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves providing comprehensive patient care in a post-surgical unit where patients recover from major abdominal and colorectal surgeries. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality care with a focus on patient safety and well-being.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for patients recovering from colorectal and abdominal surgeries.
• Monitor patient progress and perform vital sign checks routinely.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
• Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and health management.

Contract Length

Preferred length of contract is 26 weeks, with opportunities for longer commitments (26-51 weeks). Shorter contracts may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Shift Information

12-hour shifts with guaranteed 36 hours of work per week. The schedule includes every other weekend rotation.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of progressive care or stepdown experience.
• Current AHA BLS certification.
• Valid KS or Multistate nursing license; no history of infractions.
• Education: ADN or BSN.
• Experience with Epic charting system is preferred.

Additional Information

This position allows for the request of one holiday off per year in accordance with the holiday RTO policy. Candidates should be flexible regarding orientation start dates and possible reassignments based on class size.

Vaccination Requirements

Candidates must provide proof of immunity or vaccination for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella, along with documentation for TDaP and Influenza vaccines during flu season, and TB documentation.
