Job Title: Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Surgical Tech Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift - 3x12's Hours per Shift: 12 hours (0900-2130) Experience: Minimum Years of Experience: Relevant acute care experience preferred License: Facility Specific License/Certifications: AHA-BLS or ARC-BLS required Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required Certifications: National Board of Surgical Technologists or Association of Surgical Technologists certification preferred Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred Must-Have: Associate Degree or Certificate of Program Completion in Surgical Technology required Description: Facilitates physician's performance of invasive, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures. Handles instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and constantly monitors the maintenance of the sterile field. Verifies surgery to be performed with consent forms and brings patient to assigned operating room. Passes instruments to surgeon during procedure. Anticipates surgeon's needs for additional supplies. Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed. Prepares sterile dressings and secures dressings after incision closure. Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedure. Obtains appropriate sterile and unsterile items needed for procedure. Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure. Helps drape sterile field. Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization. Assists other members of team with cleaning of room for turnover. Assists in prepping room for the next patient. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
