Job Title: Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Tech Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 8H Days Hours per Shift: 8 hours per day Experience: 2 years License: Yes Certifications: BLS Certification, CST Must-Have: - 2 years of OR experience required - Travel experience preferred Description: This position involves working in an Operating Room setting. There are 7 OR suites with an average of 15-20 cases per day. All techs and RNs must have BLS certification. The electronic medical record system used is Cerner Surginet. There is a charge nurse present, but not 24/7. Weekend and call requirements are applicable; RNs and CSTs must provide one weekend of call per month and one call night per week. The expected call response time is 30 minutes. Staff will be scheduled to work holidays only in emergencies. Scrub colors and supplies are provided. Telehealth systems in use include Phillips. Surgeons are on call 24/7. The RT team is available 24/7, while the pharmacy is not available after 10 PM. Shifts consist of 8-hour periods with variable start times, and schedules are managed by management. There is no floating between units. Floor-specific orientation is dependent on skillset. Common case types include high volumes of orthopedic procedures, general surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, eyes, and occasional cardiac procedures. Scrubbing is required for this role. RN scrubbing is preferred but not mandatory. Sterile processing techs must have BLS and be certified through a recognized accrediting body. Equipment used includes autoclaves, Steris, and V-pro systems. Cancellations can occur for up to 4 shifts during a 13-week assignment. Charting is done through the Cerner system. This position does not require a BSN. The trauma level is applicable to the care setting and is categorized as acute. This role falls under the Allied division. Shifts are 8-hour varied days.
