Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: Tech Specialty: Surgery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: - Minimum 2 years of Surgical Technologist experience - Minimum 1 year of scrubbing experience with cardiovascular (CV) focus License: CO License (DORA) Required Certifications: - NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist Required - BLS (AHA) Required Must-Have: - Demonstrates the ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety. - Demonstrates knowledge of surgical services and sterile processing. - Can identify emergency situations and exercise judgment in responding appropriately. Description: Performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and reports to Surgical Services management. It is expected that the Surgical Technologist will support system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. In addition, this person will actively participate in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined. Maintains accountability for ensuring the operating room and all surgical items meet sterilization criteria. Maintains the sterile field and ensures a safe environment during procedures. Recognizes and addresses sharps and fire safety processes. Prepares the operating room and instruments for the surgical procedure. May assist with sterile processing. Assists the surgeon during procedures while staying within the scope of practice. Identifies emergency situations and exercises judgment when implementing procedures to respond to emergencies. Assists with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for the next procedure upon completion of the current procedure.
