Job Title: Surgical Tech Profession: Surgical Services Specialty: OR Tech / Surgical Tech Duration: 17 to 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (06:40 - 19:10) Experience: Minimum two years of scrub experience or equivalent relevant experience required. License: Must be in hand at submission. Certifications: BLS - AHA required; CST preferred. Must-Have: Successfully completed a surgical technologist program or two years of experience in Surgical Technologist role may be considered in lieu of completion of the program. Description: This is a day/evening position with 12-hour shifts from 06:40 to 19:10, Monday through Friday variation. There is a weekday and weekend call requirement. The assignment option ranges from 17 to 26 weeks. The responsibilities include assisting in GYN/GU/Transplant surgeries. Procedures may involve kidney transplant, Da Vinci Xi robot operations, hysterectomies, urologic procedures, and laparoscopic gynecology. The Surgical Technologist prepares the operating room prior to surgeries, promotes patient safety during procedures, assists the surgeon during surgery, and cares for instruments and supplies used. Adeptness in caring for patients of all age groups is essential. Experience in specific skills such as abdominal hysterectomy, anterior/posterior repair, cystectomy, nephrectomy, and urologic robotic surgery is required. Proficiency in aseptic techniques, equipment documentation, and universal protocol is necessary. The incumbent must possess knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to the surgical team and ensure the safety of patients. Weekend coverage is required, approximately one weekend per month. Additional experience in trauma Level II may be preferred. Pass/fail testing is required with strict passing criteria on telemetry exams. Travelers are first to float where applicable, and weekend rotations and some holidays will be required. Travelers should have a minimum of two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty they are applying for.
