Job Title: Surgical Technologist Profession: CST/ORT Specialty: Operating Room Duration: Full-Time Shift: Monday - Friday Hours per Shift: 8 hours (6:30 AM - 3:00 PM) Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: Required Certifications: Required Must-Have: - CVOR experience - Minimum 2 years of Neurosurgery experience - Experience in General, Orthopedic, Plastic, Urology, ENT, and Vascular surgery preferred Description: Perform a variety of technical duties to assist in preparing and caring for pre-operative patients. Prepare patients’ skin for surgery in accordance with hospital standards. Maintain aseptic techniques and actively monitor situations that could lead to breaches in aseptic technique. Provide comfort and support for pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient care and privacy. Transport patients to and from the operating room suite. Position patients according to the type of surgery. Identify and care for biological specimens. Prepare the operating room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case. Meet expectations of applicable competencies. Under the direction of a professional nurse, perform all processes that relate to the delivery of direct patient care and assistance in the operating room prior to and during any surgical procedure. Ability to proficiently scrub three specialty areas including but not limited to transplants, open heart, urology, and neurology is highly preferred. Establish and maintain the sterile field, pass instruments, and assist as directed by the physician. Ensure that preference cards are kept up to date and as complete as possible. Work effectively as a team member caring for the patient. Cooperate in team planning and execution. Maintain a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices. Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment. Adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and personal safety in all patient care situations. Demonstrate competency to monitor and control the surgical environment. Maintain proper traffic control, dress codes, and adherence to sanitation policies and procedures. Demonstrate competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the developmental needs of patients served. Adapt assigned patient assessments, treatment, and care methods to accommodate the unique needs of each patient served. Perform other duties as assigned.
