Job Title: Certified Surgical Technician Profession: Surgical Technician Specialty: Surgical Technician Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 11:45 AM - 07:45 PM Hours per Shift: 8 hours Experience: Minimum years of experience required License: Not specified Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: Da Vinci XI experience is required. Experience scrubbing posterior eye and eye trauma is a plus. Description: We have two operating departments: one with 26 rooms and level one trauma, and another with a 7-room inpatient and outpatient mix. Your main base will be the 7-room unit, but floating to the main OR may be required when needed. The typical load in the 7-room unit includes procedures such as hernias, appendectomies, cholecystectomies, Nissen fundoplications, PEG placements, and gastrointestinal work. Colorectal surgeries involve both open and laparoscopic bowel resections, with some robotic procedures. Gynecological surgeries include oncological and benign open and laparoscopic operations, as well as hysteroscopy, D&C, LEEP, and tubal ligation. Urological surgeries involve cystoscopies, stent placements, TURBs, TURPs, percutaneous procedures, open and laparoscopic nephrectomies, and cystectomies, including gender affirmation surgeries. Breast procedures generally include biopsies, mastectomies with node dissection, and mastectomies with reconstruction. Ocular procedures are performed only three times a month and include plastics, cataracts, and vitrectomies. Brachytherapy involves assisting with device insertion, primarily conducted by the radiation oncology team. Plastic surgeries are often performed in conjunction with breast or gender affirmation procedures. Uro-Gynecology involves sling placements and anterior/posterior repairs. Robotic procedures are primarily performed in Urology and Gynecology, with some bariatric cases as well. Our unit operates Monday through Friday, often finishing surgeries by 7-8 PM. If the schedule allows or in cases of staffing shortages, floating to the main OR will be expected to complete the workday. The main OR handles additional services such as orthopedics, vascular, ENT, general oncology, transplant, neurosurgery, thoracic, cardiac, and trauma. The obligations include two weekend call shifts per contract, with no other weekend requirements.
