License: BLS certification required.
Certifications: CST certification required.
Must-Have:
Experience with open abdominal cases.
Willingness to be trained in C-sections.
Familiarity with Cerner or EPIC is required.
Description:
ASAP start needed.
Manager interviews are required.
Facility has 4 operating rooms.
Average about 25 cases performed per day.
Case types include:
- General surgeries (open and laparoscopic): bowel, gallbladder, appendix, hernias, portacath, and fistulas.
- Urology: laser lithotripsy, nephroureteral stent insertion/removal, vasectomies, and TURPs.
- ENT: TAs, endoscopic sinus, facial lesions, thyroids, and neck dissection.
- Client: C-sections, tubal ligations, DCs, DEs, hysteroscopies, hysterectomies, and uterine ablations.
- Ortho: total joints (knees and hips), fractures, wrists, ankles, ACL repairs, fingers, carpal tunnel, and rods (bipolar and nailings); podiatry training available.
- Endoscopies: EGDs and colonoscopies (experience not required).
Robotics experience is not needed.
No conscious sedation cases.
All staff members assist in turning over rooms.
Support on the unit includes supervisors, CRNAs, one anesthesiologist (Monday - Thursday), an anesthesia tech, a charge RN, two resource nurses, and an OR educator.
RTs and hospitalists are available 24/7.
The technology includes Cerner or EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, and Pyxis medication dispensing.
Staff may float to inpatient areas to provide assistance without assuming patient assignments.
Scheduling includes operating hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM, with required call shifts for RNs and CSTs.
Expected call shifts average 6-7 per month.
Typically includes 1-2 call shifts on weekdays.
Weekend call is typically every 4th or 5th weekend.
Response time for call should be 20 minutes.
One sleep room is available for staff during call.
Holiday expectations include being on call for some holidays as needed.
RTO requests require manager approval.
Surgical scrubs are provided.
