Description:
The Surgical Technologist is responsible for the preparation of the surgical suite.
They handle instruments during surgical procedures and maintain a sterile field.
They evaluate changing conditions during surgical procedures and make appropriate responses as needed.
Their role includes maintaining knowledge of surgical procedures and principles.
They serve as a Preceptor and engage with management and education teams on curriculum development.
The surgical technologist provides sterile instruments and supplies during surgical procedures.
They perform surgical sponge, needle, and instrument counts.
They prepare case tables with necessary equipment, sterile supplies, instruments, and medications for each surgical case.
They assist in positioning patients for surgical procedures and maintain a protective position throughout the case.
They create and maintain a sterile and safe environment.
They take an active role in preference card management through communication with relevant parties.
They engage with surgeons to suggest improvements regarding instrument sets and streamline processes.
The surgical technologist actively participates in case costing by discussing product usage with surgeons.
They connect with relevant parties to make cost-saving suggestions and eliminate waste on cases.
