Key Responsibilities- Establish and maintain the sterile field; pass instruments and sutures to the physician and assist as directed during surgical procedures.
- Prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case using physician preference cards.
- Prepare patient skin for surgery, position patients according to procedure type, and transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite.
- Monitor and control the surgical environment, including traffic control, dress code compliance, and OR sanitation policies.
- Identify, handle, and care for biological specimens in accordance with facility standards.
- Maintain aseptic technique, adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions, and actively monitor for potential breaches in sterile field integrity.
Required Qualifications- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program or accredited LVN/LPN program required.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential or active LVN/LPN license required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required — American Heart Association (AHA) only.
- Minimum of 2 years of Neurosurgery scrub experience required.
- CVOR scrub experience required.
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience scrubbing General, Orthopedic, Plastics, Urology, ENT, and Vascular surgery cases preferred.
- Ability to proficiently scrub 3 or more specialty areas such as Transplants, Open Heart, Neurology, Robotics, or Titanium Rib procedures highly preferred.
