Surgical Technologist – OR Tech

Schedule / Job TypeContract | Days | 4x10-hour shifts, 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM with a rotating day off; call rotation, weekend rotation, and holiday requirements apply
Key Responsibilities- Scrub and assist in a high-volume Level I Trauma OR environment across multiple surgical specialties including general, orthopedics, neurosurgery, plastics, gynecology, oncology, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, and sports medicine
- Support surgical teams in procedures involving total joint replacements, craniotomies, and complex trauma cases
- Operate and assist with advanced surgical equipment including robotic platforms and intraoperative navigation systems
- Participate in on-call, weekend, and holiday rotations as required by the unit schedule
- Provide scrub tech services across a diverse patient population including neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, and geriatrics
Required Qualifications- Current BLS certification required
- Active NBSTSA, NCCT, or military OR Tech certification required
- Active Virginia state surgical tech license required; out-of-state candidates must obtain VA licensure and provide a 90-day authorization to work while license is being processed
- Strong proficiency in general, orthopedic (total joints), and neurosurgery scrubbing — all three specialties are required
- Must be willing to work at least one holiday per 13-week contract period
- Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility (as verified by driver's license address); local candidates are not accepted
Preferred Experience / Skills- Experience with complex procedures including large abdominal (big belly), craniotomy, and orthopedic trauma cases highly preferred
- Robotic surgical experience (e.g., daVinci Si/Xi, ROSA) strongly preferred
- Familiarity with intraoperative navigation and specialty equipment such as O-Arm, Stealth, or HIPEC systems a plus
