Key Responsibilities

• Scrubs in on advanced and complex surgical procedures under professional nurse supervision across a variety of surgical specialties
• Sets up and maintains sterile field including instruments, equipment, supplies, and medications/solutions required for each procedure
• Anticipates surgeon preferences for materials and instruments and responds proactively; updates nursing staff based on ongoing assessment of equipment needs
• Disassembles, cleans, reassembles, and prepares instruments for terminal sterilization; monitors supplies and instruments to ensure sterility and support quality assurance
• Inventories and orders assigned service supplies as needed; provides input on policy, procedure, and patient care standard changes
• Available for back-up call for emergency cases that may require two surgical technicians

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Completion of a surgical technologist training program accredited by CAAHEP or a U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting agency
• Active Surgical Technologist Certification (CST) — required at time of submission
• Current BLS Certification — required at time of submission
• Minimum of 1 year of surgical technologist experience

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology with familiarity of instrumentation, suturing materials, needles, prosthetic devices, and related surgical supplies
• Experience with sterile technique, instrument processing, and patient positioning
• Knowledge of wound healing, complications, and normal growth and development across the life cycle
• Ability to respond effectively to requests and changing conditions during live surgical procedures
