Travel Surgical Tech - Pediatric OR

Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support the Pediatric Operating Room at a high-acuity academic hospital. This role involves assisting surgeons during complex pediatric surgical procedures while maintaining sterile technique and ensuring patient safety.

Strong Memorial Hospital is a Level I trauma and major academic center, with a dedicated children's hospital handling complex pediatric cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain sterile surgical field
• Set up and organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment
• Assist surgeons during procedures in the scrub role
• Anticipate surgeon needs during procedures
• Perform instrument counts and maintain sterile technique
• Ensure proper handling of surgical tools and equipment
• Support room turnover and case preparation
• Maintain accurate documentation and follow OR protocols

Surgical techs play a critical role in ensuring smooth surgical flow and patient safety.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of Surgical Tech experience (acute care OR)
• Pediatric OR experience - strongly preferred / often required for Level 4
• CST Certification (NBSTSA) - required
• BLS Certification (AHA) - required
• Must meet New York State Surgical Tech requirements
