Job Summary:
Performs various duties as a member of the surgical team to ensure a safe and successful operative procedure. This position functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and directly reports to Surgical Services management. The Surgery Tech will support system-wide and surgical operations initiatives and practices. Additionally, this role actively participates in the surgical operations safety plan as outlined.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Operating Room Technician (ORT) program, or graduation from a non-accredited surgical tech program within the past six (6) months (not eligible for Tech in Surgery exam), or two (2) years of scrub tech experience in hospital/military surgical services within the last three (3) years.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
- Demonstrates the ability to maintain a sterile field and ensure environmental safety.
- Demonstrates the ability to recognize and address sharps and fire safety processes.
- Demonstrates knowledge of surgical services and sterile processing.
- Demonstrates the ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Experience in surgeries support within the surgical team.
- Experience in life support situations related to surgical care.
- Experience in sterile field management and sterilization processes.
- Experience in supervision within surgical services (within ORT scope).
Preferred Qualifications:- Active National Certification as an ORT in Surgery or Certified Surgical Technologist.
