Job Summary:
Certified Operating Room Technician (OR Tech) position located in Ellsworth, Maine. This role involves supporting a busy surgical department with a variety of case types, including general, urology, ENT, OBGYN, orthopedics, and endoscopies. The position requires working rotating 10-hour shifts in a three-shift schedule from Monday through Friday, with the possibility of weekend call rotations.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Operating hours are Monday through Friday, 0700-1730, with a 10-hour shift schedule and a minimum of 40 hours per week. Weekends are on rotational call basis, with call shifts approximately 6-7 times per month.
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Operating Room Technology (ORT), BLS, and CST skills required. Experience with surgical support, Cerner or EPIC electronic medical record systems, and circulating surgical cases is necessary. Willingness to train in specific case types such as total joints, podiatry, and endoscopy is preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with adult and pediatric surgical cases, supporting various specialties, and familiarity with Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing.
- Support on the Unit: Supervisor, CRNAs, anesthesiologist (Monday-Thursday), anesthesia tech, charge RN, resource nurses, OR educator, RT, hospitalist, and phlebotomy team.
- Technology/Equipment: Cerner or EPIC electronic medical record experience required; use of Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system.
- Orientation: One-week orientation with a call buddy, working five 8-hour shifts during this period.
- Additional Information: Scrub color will be provided, parking is free, and the start date is scheduled for 09/07/2026. The facility is a 64-bed licensed hospital with four operating rooms, supporting adult and pediatric surgical cases with minimal pediatric cases.
