Job Summary Pediatric Operating Room Open Heart Nurse in Tacoma, Washington. This role involves providing specialized perioperative care for pediatric patients undergoing open heart procedures in a level II pediatric trauma center. The nurse will collaborate with surgical teams to ensure quality patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
Job Details
Schedule: Days shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST), Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Washington State License, 3 years of pediatric cardiovascular operating room (CVOR) experience; must have first scrub role experience including handing supplies to the surgeon and instrument counting, not just second scrub role.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with neonates up to adult-sized patients, handling congenital anomalies, and cardiothoracic surgical cases such as Tetralogy of Fallot, transposition of great vessels, and ECMO.
Responsibilities: Assisting with pediatric cardiothoracic surgeries, supporting general operating room cases when not busy in the cardiovascular operating room, helping with sterile procedures, and providing exceptional patient care.
Schedule: The shift begins on 09/08/2026 with daily hours from 07:30 AM to 07:00 PM. On-call duties include one call shift per week with a 30-minute response time, and two weekends in a six-week period, including early Friday mornings.
Additional Information: The candidate will help with general operating room cases when not engaged in cardiovascular procedures. The position entails assisting with complex pediatric surgeries in a Level II Pediatric Trauma Center with a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
