Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Bethpage, NY

Pay: $1763.20 weekly

Shifts: 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM, every other weekend

Seven Healthcare are seeking a dedicated Sterile Processing Technician for a large, busy, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center in Bethpage, NY. This travel position involves providing essential sterile processing services for multiple facilities, ensuring high-quality standards in a tertiary setting.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Dissemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble and package sterile supplies according to specifications and/or manufacturer instructions and follow department protocols.
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures.
  • Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.
  • Retrieve used trays, instruments and equipment from various surgical and clinical hospital areas for decontamination.
  • Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly and functionality; identify malfunctioning items, record related information, and promptly notify supervisor or biomedical engineer.
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels.
  • Perform required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD), must not expire during term of assignment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years + of certified experience in a tertiary setting OR 1 year of certified experience with 4 years of SPT experience in a tertiary setting
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds, required
  • Manual dexterity, ability to stand, bend, lift and/or reach for extended periods of time, required
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing) and follow oral and/or written instructions, required
