Sterile Processing Technician

Location: Bethpage, NY

Pay: $1,763.20 per week

Shifts: 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, every other weekend required

Seven Healthcare are seeking an experienced Sterile Processing Technician for a travel assignment in a large, state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center in Bethpage, NY. This facility provides sterile processing services for multiple facilities, including tertiary sites and ambulatory surgery centers, and offers emergency services for the area.

Key Responsibilities of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Dissemble, clean, sterilize, reassemble, and package sterile supplies according to specifications and/or manufacturer instructions
  • Operate washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, and heat sealers
  • Adhere to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts
  • Retrieve used trays, instruments, and equipment from surgical and clinical hospital areas
  • Examine instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness and functionality
  • Assist in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels
  • Maintain a contaminant-free work environment

Requirements of the Sterile Processing Technician
  • Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD), must not expire during term of assignment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of certified experience in a tertiary setting or 1 year of certified experience with 4 years of SPT experience in a tertiary setting
  • Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds
  • Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to rotate through all areas, including decontamination
