Job Title: Cardiovascular Invasive Technician Profession: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Specialty: Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist Duration: 13 weeks Shift: AM Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: 4 years minimum experience License: TX MRT Certifications: BLS (AHA Only), ACLS (AHA Only), RCIS or ARRT (R) Must-Have: One year of clinical experience preferred. Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required. Ability to multi-task and solve problems independently. Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular principles, instrumentation, and techniques. Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology. Description: The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is responsible for surgically scrubbing in and assisting with equipment. The technician assists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures as a secondary assignment. Prepares the room and equipment and transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities. Assists physicians with arteriograms, catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, and interventional therapies. Related duties include preparing and maintaining sterile fields for lab procedures. Prints films and calculates stenosis on peripheral cases. Circulates in procedure rooms and collects data on appropriate forms. Monitors patients' ECG and vital signs while in the catheterization lab, notifying physicians of variances and providing emergency procedures as needed. Performs pre- and post-procedure care. Monitors and orients patients undergoing catheterization procedures. Communicates relevant medical information through required documentation. Records and enters catheterization data into the computer, calculating relevant metrics. Follows national and state radiation protection regulations. Maintains inventory of procedure room supplies and ensures safe equipment use. Demonstrates commitment to effective customer service delivery, integrity, and teamwork.
